Are people working 4* 10 or 4* 8 hour days, typically?
Gets hired to work for 4 companies at the price of one salary

I got hired under a small start up design company managed by a high profile person who owns 4 other companies. Although it was discussed during interview that i might "occasionally have to help out" with their social media management, the tasks slowly branched out to doing small tasks for their clerks like removing background, video editing for birthdays, or small pointless tasks. I should note that I'm their only designer.
Although i can't complain much cuz the main daily jobs aren't much, I am already a social media designer, graphic designer, web designer, video editor ALL IN ONE and soon I'll have a burn out.
These tasks seem small, but when the deadlines overlap and everyone starts asking for the update, I'm seriously overwhelmed.
I need some advice. I have already hinted to them that i have my plate full by giving them list of my work but they can't take a hint. I thought it would do good to myself if i show them that I'm a jack of all trade in design to prove my worth but it seems to have backfired. Gave them an inch they took a mile

When they give you a new task to take on outside the scope of what you were hired to do, say "Ok sounds good- I have x task due this day as well. How would you like me to reprioritize?" or phrase it how you'd like, the key is to include the word reprioritize. That way you're making them choose between the tasks they're giving you.
PSA: The "Big 4" of Sewing Pattern companies are all owned by the same company
Main Post:
Vogue, McCalls, Butterick, and Simplicity are all owned by CSS Industries - they aren't actually in competition with each other and if they all seem very alike it is because they are. Burda in the US I believe is under Simplicity as well - but I'm not sure about that since Burda international and Burda US are not actually the same thing and Burda Style magazine is also in the mix there.
Its a monopoly essentially - but there are enough independent designers putting out patterns that they can probably claim it isn't.
So the news about it now being a "Big 5" isn't that a new brand is competing on the same level as the "Big 4" it means there is now a new brand under the umbrella ownership of CSS Industries.
Top Comment: Is this not common knowledge?? Well, the correct info...because this hot take is just loud and wrong. It has hardly ever been a monopoly. It was never the behemoth corporation people acted like it was. McCall Co long owned Vogue, McCall’s, Butterick and Kwik Sew. CSS purchased McCall’s in 2016 and in 2017, acquired Simplicity. The UK company (Design Group?) purchased the sewing pattern companies in 2020 ish. Each pattern brand has a different block. Burda is not owned by the same company. There is no “US Burda”. There are licensing agreements, pattern printing, etc. Burda magazine is a German publication that is then reprinted in different languages and distributed around the world.
Big 4 companies interest in Drexel CS undergrad?
Main Post:
I know that it's more to the skill a person possess than to his degree to land on those companies (google, amazon, Microsoft, Facebook). However, I want to know how valuable Drexel CS degree in the eyes of those companies is? And, on average, what percentage of Drexel CS students land on these companies (at least please guess based on hearsay or intuition in case there's no exact data)?
P.s: my question might be awkward, but I need it. Recently I was accepted to Drexel and UW-madison (with full-ride on both). However, I really really like Philly and coop. Although UW-madison is ranked higher in cs ranking, my gut feeling is saying that I would be a lot happier at Drexel. So I need yet another reason(and this one is very imp to me) to enforce my feeling. I hope you would understand. Thank you so much.
Top Comment: Drexel CS has built in coop system, which helped your resume tremendously. If you are unable to find internships on your own at UW Madison, it might be harder to apply for Big 4 later on. I think Drexel coop system is great in that you automatically have 3 internship built in. Most people who get into Google / MSFT often in their 2-3rd coop. Google make a yearly presence on campus at the Google games and you can network there. Another good thing is UPenn is right next to us. Big name companies hire there all the time and I have crashed their hackathons to put in my resume. So it is possible to get noticed by these companies. I work as a software engineer intern at Google. I have met a few other coop at Google from Drexel (5-6 peeps) and they are all incredibly hard-working and talented. At the end of the day, it how much effort and energy you are willing to put into studying and preparing. Also a good thing is Drexel CS curriculum is imo less challenging (depend on class though, but majority are not super hard), leaving you plenty of time to self study / prep for interview on your own. If you want more advice about preparation and applying in general, let me know.
